Warren’s Sumrow hits 25 in win over Sheffield

Warren’s Kolten Sumrow was perfect Tuesday as he shot a 25 to lead the Dragons to a 162-147 victory over the Sheffield Wolverines.
Warren’s team score of 162 tied its season high, with everyone improving their scores throughout the season. Twenty-two out of 35 shooters hit at least 20 targets in Tuesday’s outing.
The match was well attended by the students, parents and the community.
“Sheffield was very gracious and showed a very classy gesture as they honored both Warren and Sheffield seniors with a recognition,” Warren volunteer coach Scott Pearson said, “giving each a gift bag, while honoring 21 total seniors between the schools.”
The Warren junior varsity squad followed suit and was also victorious by a 142-106 score.
With two matches left in the season, Warren varsity is now sitting at 3-1, tied with Corry, while the junior varsity shooters are 4-0.
The Dragons will now prepare for a highly anticipated home contest against the Corry Beavers next week, and Sheffield will take on the Tidioute Bulldogs.
Warren varsity was led by Sumrow’s 25, followed by 23s from John Peterson, Taige Davis, Faith Sherwood, Connor Loomis, and Isaac Georgakis, and a 22 from Parker Lauffenburger. Warren had seven shooters earn a score of 22.
The High Lady for Warren was Faith Sherwood, who had a season high of 23. Warren’s top jayvee scores were Colton Clever and Matthew Franklin at 22, followed by Eddie Abplanap and Sebastian Oyola with 21, Damian Taylor and Brody Connolly with 19, and Baylee Mead’s 18.
Sheffield varsity was led by Nick Hagg, who hit 23 targets. Archer Watson had a strong showing at 21, followed by Zayne Bowman, James Wagner at 21, then Jack Chapman, Wyatt Newark and Parker Newark with 20s.
The High Lady for the Wolverines was Rachel Farnsworth at 20. The junior varsity squad was led by Noah Fohrd, Emmet Snyder and Chloe Robinson at 16, then Lucas Joblin at 15, Addison Heater and Lucas Copley with 14, then Nick Joblin’s 13.
