Warren boys post shutout in first match
TITUSVILLE — Warren’s boys soccer team peppered Titusville’s goalie all match, coming away with a 5-0 non-region road win on Saturday.
Sophomore Trey Carrington and freshman Timmy Giger scored a minute apart midway through the first half, and seniors Finn Ordiway and Brody Alexander and junior Luc Wilkins scored in the second half for Warren (1-0). Junior Jack Chapman had two assists, and freshmen Gabe Dougherty and Giger also assisted on goals in the win.
“We’re happy with the result, but we still have a long way to go,” said second-year Warren head coach Steffen Blair. “Even when we struggled a bit with timing and stringing together passes, the boys did a good job of not getting frustrated and refocusing.

“We got a great boost from the young guys,” said Blair. “Timmy and Gabe have a great connection and built off of each other well to set up our first two goals. Luc brought a lot of energy in the second half and helped raise the level of the whole team. He’s done a great job putting away his chances.”
Junior Quinn Norris had 11 steals and senior Casey Rich added seven. Senior Jack Lynds was shutout goalie.
“This is a motivated group and we know that we’ll have to keep improving if we want to compete with the top teams,” said Blair. “We’ll have a good opportunity to do that this week.”
Grant Newton scored the lone goal for Warren in a 1-0 junior varsity win with Adon Maier in goal.
