Tarp Skunks sweep Olean
OLEAN, N.Y. — Jamestown opened the 2026 Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League season in style over the weekend, capped by Saturday’s 14-6 victory over Olean.
Twenty-four hours after downing the Oilers 13-3 at Diethrick Park, the Tarp Skunks pounded out 14 hits at Bradner Stadium, including three by Grant Moore (double); and two apiece by Paul Dulanto (home run, four RBIs), Caleb Jordan and Heath Fetchik.
Starter Tait Johnson, one of seven Jamestown pitchers, got the win. The hurlers, who yielded just four hits, were aided by an offense that scored six runs in the first inning, three in the fourth, four in the eighth and one in the ninth.
For the Oilers, who stranded 12 base runners, Thomas Bates had an RBI double. Jake Manendo took the loss.
The Tarp Skunks will try to make it three straight wins when they meet Olean again Tuesday at Diethrick Park. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.

TARP SKUNKS ROLL
JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Jamestown jumped out to a 6-1 lead after two innings and rode the effectiveness of three pitchers to down Olean 13-3 in seven innings in the season opener before a large crowd at Diethrick Park.
Moore (triple) and Jordan collected two hits apiece; Gowanda native Blake Herman (double) and Anthony Trommer drove in three runs each; and Mike Gunn Jr. had a pair of RBIs for the Tarp Skunks, who had nine hits and were the beneficiary of eight walks.
Starter Zachary McLean, winning pitcher Santino Musone and Collin Pence combined to strike out five and walk five.
Brendan Roche worked the first three innings for the Oilers, yielding six runs (five earned), struck out five and walked two. Salamanca native Jaxson Ross, Matt Boffalo and Brock Wensel came on in relief.
Dana Willliams led Olean’s offense with an RBI double.
