Kinzua Youth Development Center hosts movement camp next week
The Kinzua Youth Development Center is hosting an educational movement camp for boys and girls in the U11 age group at the Kinzua Youth Development Center — 200 Struthers St. in Warren Pa. The camp will run next week, July 8-11, from 10-11:15 a.m. and focus on games and activities that promote foundational skills to become a successful sportsperson (e.g., locomotor and non-locomotor skills — rolling, balancing, sliding, jogging, running, leaping, jumping, hopping, dodging, galloping, skipping, throwing and kicking).
The camp is being directed by Dr. Dan McLaughlin who is a physical education professor at Wingate University in North Carolina. He will be assisted by several high school members of the Kinzua Wrestling Club. With the current over-emphasis on competition in the youth sport realm; this camp emphasizes the development of skills needed by a young person prior to those competitive events.
The camp is limited to the first 30 individuals who are registered: thus all interested participants must go to kinzuawrestlingclub.com to register.
