Warren swimmers sweep ‘Hurst Prep
ERIE — Warren earned its first sweep of the year, Thursday against host Mercyhurst Prep.
Sweeps are hard to come by for Warren with two male swimmers, but the boys team won, 20-18, behind Drake Niemetz and Brody Alexander. Niemetz won the uncontested 200-yard individual medley and 100 backstroke. Alexander finished second in the 50 free and 500 free.
In the Lady Dragons’ 128-36 win, Sam Caudill won the 200 free in 2:14.60 and 100 breaststroke in 1:19.56. Emma Peterson won the 200 IM in 2:36.53 — less than one second ahead of second-place Lilly Newton (2:37.29). Leyna Irwin won the 50 free in 27.64 and the 100 free in 1:02.18. Katie Krogler won the 500 free in 5:57.96.
Warren’s 200 medley relay of Newton, Caudill, Irwin, and Krogler won in 2:10.53 and the 400 free relay in 4:17. Peterson, Eliza Brook, Madeline Walker and Violet Spiegel won the 200 free relay in 2:01.60.
Gracie Page won the 1-meter diving event with 170.30 points ahead of teammate Kinzlea Chase’s 165.45.
