Lady Dragons swim past Meadville; boys go 4-for-4

Warren’s girls swim team defeated Meadville 105-74 on Monday at the Warren YMCA. Warren’s boys team lost 51-24 despite both members winning their events.
For the Lady Dragons, Katie Krogler (2:25.56) and Leyna Irwin (2:34.38) finished 1-2 in the 200-meter freestyle, and Irwin won the 100-meter freestyle in 1:09.40; Krogler added a first in the 400-meter freestyle in 5:07.75; Kinzlea Chase finished first in diving with 180.75 points; and Warren’s 200-meter freestyle relay team of Madeline Walker, Krogler, Irwin and Lilly Newton won in 2:08.95. Samantha Caudill was second in the 200-meter individual medley and 400-meter freestyle; Newton was edged by .25 seconds in the 50-meter freestyle and second in the 100-meter breaststroke; Jennifer Giger and Lexi Paris were second and third, respectively, in the 100-meter butterfly; and Walker second in the 100-meter backstroke.
Despite a team loss, Warren’s boys couldn’t do any better with Drake Niemetz winning the 50-meter freestyle and 100-meter freestyle, and Brody Alexander winning the 200-meter freestyle and 100-meter breaststroke.
