Dragons fall to Lancers 22-12

The Warren softball offense showed up Monday at General McLane, but the Lancers were more than capable of matching the Dragons and then some with a 22-12 Region 6 softball victory in six innings.

After giving up four runs in the bottom of the first inning, Warren responded the next chance at the plate and managed to score eight runs.

Highlighting the Dragons offense were Alanna Warrior, going 3 for 4 with three RBIs and three runs scored; Emma Gray, going 2 for 4 with a run scored; Alexis Jones, going 2 for 2 with three RBIs; and Laken Carrol, finishing 2 for 3. Every Warren batter connected for at least one hit.

However, after the explosive second inning, General McLane limited the Dragons to just four more runs and never stopped hitting as the Lancers amassed 22 runs by the sixth inning to end the game early.

“Overall we did much better today,” said Warren head coach Sam Mott. “Losing isn’t fun, but I think as a team we learned a lot and probably played some of our best softball to date. These girls never gave up and ultimately when General McLane threw punches and scored runs we got in the box and threw punches back. Hopefully we can carry some of this momentum into tomorrow.”

Warren (0-13, 0-6) is back in action today when it travels to Merychurst Prep at 5 p.m.

Starting at $3.50/week.
