Dragons’ cross country sweeps Seneca; Knights swept by North East

Warren’s cross country teams — led by first-place finishes by Morgan Alexander and Sam Lindell — swept visiting Seneca on Tuesday at Betts Park.

“We had a good showing today, coming away with wins for all squads,” said Warren coach Kevin Dustin. “We talked a lot about working on racing strategy during this race and the kids are starting to really figure out what’s working for them. We are really looking forward to senior night next Tuesday night and the end of this season’s races where we hope to be at our best.”

In a 26-31 win in the girls’ race, Alexander was first out of 23 in 20:44, and Hannah Pearson second just 12 seconds later. EMILY GROSCH,

MISTRETTA PLACE SECOND

Despite being swept by visiting North East at Eisenhower High School, the Knights had “quite a few of the kids running their fastest time on our home course,” said Ike coach Darlene Beach, whose Lady Knights dropped a 23-36 decision and boys lost 19-44.

“This was our fourth and final home meet of the season,” said Beach. “Emily Grosch and Kierra (Wismar) ran a strong second half of the race to take second and third. Izzy Grosch continues to improve each week.”

Emily Grosch finished in 23:26, Wismar in 23:45, and Izzy Grosch was eighth in 24:39.
