Eisenhower softball wins 12-2, baseball loses 19-3

RUSSELL — The Eisenhower girls softball team downed Iroquois 12-2, while the Knights’ baseball team lost to Mercyhurst Prep 19-3, dropping their record to 0-8.

The Lady Knights found themselves down 2-0 when they came to bat in the bottom of the second inning, but exploded for five runs, highlighted by a two-run single by Abbie Darr.

Eisenhower wasn’t done scoring as it added seven runs in the bottom of the third inning, highlighted by Marli Rectenwald’s three-run triple, RBI singles by Hailey Gray and Darr, and a two-run home run over the center field fence by Lexi Pascuzzi.

Darr started in the circle for the Lady Knights, working five innings, striking out five and walking two while giving up only one earned run.

Eisenhower was led offensively by Rectenwald with four RBIs; Darr with two hits and two RBIs; and Gray with a pair of stolen bases.

“The best we have played this season,” Lady Knights head coach Neal Kent said. “We hit the ball well and had no miscues in the field. Hopefully we keep it up.”

Eisenhower is back in action today when it travels to Union City.

The Knights baseball team (0-8) ran into a juggernaut against Zach Kruszewsk, who gave up a run and two hits in three innings on the mound, while adding three hits, four runs, two RBIs and three stolen bases of his own.
