Warren falls at McDowell
ERIE — Warren’s baseball team committed six errors for its second straight game, losing 9-0 to McDowell on Tuesday in a Region 5 game at UPMC Park.
The Dragons are limping to the finish line with a couple of key injuries in the field.
“Some guys (are) having to play where they aren’t used to with the injuries to ‘Dip’ (Eric Dippold) and Anthony (Errett),” said Warren coach Andrew Morrison. “That’s tough in a short season, but it’s not a lack of effort by any means.”
Warren seniors Ben Sowa, Owen Blum and Gio Elinsky all reached base twice with a hit and walk apiece.
“Carter Cochran had three good at-bats and his first hit in his first varsity start and Tage Wyman did a great job in right field as a freshman,” added Morrison, whose Dragons are 2-11 in the region.
Brady Berdine started and pitched four innings, allowing four earned runs on five hits and three walks, striking out eight.
McDowell leadoff hitter Carter Swanson was 3-for-3 with a triple, two stolen bases and four runs scored. The Trojans are 10-3 and the top Class 6A team in Region 5.
