Rocky Grove hands Eisenhower 10-2 loss
RUSSELL — The Eisenhower Knights hosted the middle game of three consecutive home Region 3 contests Friday and lost to Rocky Grove 10-2 at Werner Park.
The Orioles jumped out to a 7-0 lead before Eisenhower scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Cam Jakubczak and Johnny Palmieri each drove in a run to make it 7-2.
Childs and Jakubczack would each have two hits for the Knights. Palmieri and Kael Hunt both doubled. The home team stayed busy on the base paths as Jakubczack added a pair of stolen bases, while Garrett Jensen also stole one.
Senior Spencer Wynn took the loss on the mound for Eisenhower. He allowed four runs and five hits over four innings. Palmieri would come on in relief and finish for the Knights.
Eisenhower was sure-handed in the field as the Knights did not commit an error. Stranding six runners on base would ultimately cost them runs.
The Knights are back in action today with first pitch set for 11 a.m. as they welcome the Maplewood Tigers to Werner Park.
