Warren girls ease past Franklin

FRANKLIN — Warren’s girls basketball team jumped out to an 18-4 first-quarter lead en route to a 59-29 Region 5 win on Thursday at Franklin.

Six Lady Dragons scored in the opening quarter as Warren improves to 6-4 overall.

“They are starting to figure it out,” said Warren coach Lisa LaVan. “We are a deep, athletic team and they have a lot of fun playing together.”

Sammie Ruhlman finished with 10 points and 10 assists with nine Dragons scoring in the game.

Freshman Peyton Wotorson led Warren with 17 points in the win. Emily Foster added 10 points.

Franklin is 4-4 overall.

“The 10-day layoff was tough, but I was happy with how they responded,” added LaVan.

Warren’s JV team also won 35-24.
