Senior Night turned out to be a quick night for Warren’s volleyball team in a 25-15, 25-18, 25-7 win at Warren Area High School.
Warren’s two seniors — Carly Beers and Kirsten Johnson — combined for nine kills, 14 digs and four aces in the Region 5 victory.
“The seniors played well, as usual, in front of a terrific Flannel Panel (student cheering section) and home crowd,” said Warren coach Mike Dolan. “Carly, once again, filled up the stat sheet with her all-around game and Kirsten patrolled the net and did a great job at the service line. Both of them have meant so much to the program — Carly as a three-year starter on the right side and Kirsten as a big part of the varsity success these past two seasons especially. They have set a terrific example for the underclassmen with their dedication in the off-season and leadership this season. We will need both of them to continue to play that way as we head toward our final region game on Thursday against a very good Meadville team, and as we prepare for playoffs next week. Tonight, it was maybe a little slower start for the team overall than we would have liked, but they all recognized it and finished strong.”
Beers finished with five kills, 10 digs, and two aces and Johnson four kills, four digs, and two aces. Alexia Bowers had seven kills and two aces; Kylie Fehlman six kills and two blocks; Maddy Jones six kills, four digs, and five aces; Summer Lucks 21 digs and two aces; Lindsay Madigan 27 assists and two aces; and Maddie Nosel three kills.
Warren is 5-2 in the region and faces Meadville (6-1) on Thursday night at home for District 10 3A playoff positioning.
Also on Tuesday, Warren’s junior varsity defeated Erie, 25-5, 25-22. Lilly Newton had six kills and three aces for the Dragons; Lily Walker six digs and six aces; Sophie Walker three digs; Nosel three kills and two digs; Delaney Wright three assists; Lauren Shattuck four digs and one kill; Lauren Fajbik two kills; and Elissa Errett three assists.
