Knights come up short in Erie

ERIE — The Eisenhower Knights came up just short in their game against Iroquois on Thursday at Mercyhurst University, falling 8-6 in Region 3 baseball.

The Knights jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning only to see the Braves make up the deficit and take a 3-2 in the bottom of the inning thanks to a Rex Brown double.

The Braves added a pair of runs in the second inning and another run in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 6-2 lead into the sixth inning.

The Knights’ Carson Ferman singled, driving in Caleb Jakubczak, who drew a walk to get on base. Bryce Spinks singled in a run to cut the Braves lead to 6-4.

The Braves would add a pair of runs in their half of the sixth inning to make the score 8-4.

The Knights didn’t give up. Jakubczak tripled driving in a run and Wes Wilcox singled in another run, but that’s as close as they would get, eventually falling by a 8-6 score.

Wyatt Neal started on the hill for Eisenhower. The right-hander went four innings, allowing five runs and striking out nine Braves. Jakubczack threw two innings of relief allowing two earned runs and striking out three.

Starting at $3.50/week.
