YOUNGSVILLE — Following a 4-2 loss at Franklin less than a month ago, Warren’s boys soccer team won the rematch handily on Thursday 6-0 at Youngsville High School.

In a Region 4 matchup of one-loss teams, “Warren responded from being totally outplayed earlier season,” said Warren assistant coach Chris Darling. Warren improves to 7-1 in the region, and Franklin falls to 6-2.

Warren scored twice in the first five minutes at the grass pitch of Mike Shine Field — both goals by freshman Logan Crissey, who has recorded back-to-back hat tricks.

“Those goals set the tone for the match and the Dragons never looked back, running away with the match,” said Darling.

Warren led 5-0 at halftime. Gavin Rex recorded two goals — including the lone second-half goal — and an assist, and Jack Darling scored on a corner kick from Parks Ordiway.

Ordiway — Warren’s leading scorer — “played a critical role in the offense with four assists in the match,” said Darling. “Quinn Norris, Mark Lynds and Jack Darling controlled the midfield and never really allowed much of a build-up from Franklin. Warren’s talented back line of Corban Reinard, Chase Sitler, Ethan Best and Dakota Sliter shut down all attacks and helped (goalie) Will Nebinski, who recorded five saves in the shutout.

“Mark Lynds’ play in the midfield was a real difference-maker and Quinn Norris and Jack Darling didn’t allow one of the most talented players in the region, Gage Haniwalt, any possession on the ball,” said Warren head coach Denny Flatt. “Total team effort; really proud of the boys. A lot of players filled in to contribute in the final minutes.

“The Franklin match has grown over the last couple years to a real region rivalry,” said Flatt. “Franklin has some really talented players; hats off to their program and coaches.”
