Villa-Prep sweeps Warren at YMCA pool

Warren was swept by Villa-Prep on Thursday at the Warren YMCA pool. That doesn’t limit the Dragons’ performances.

For the Lady Dragons, in a 116-69 loss to Villa, Katie Beyer dominated the 200-meter free and 400 free, winning both events easily.

Beyer won the 200 free in 2:12.88, nearly 12 seconds better than the second-place finisher.

Kirsten Johnson finished first in the 100 back in 1:14.96, and Sara Sokolski won the 100 breaststroke in 1:27.65.

“Katie Krogler had a very good meet as well; she dropped time in both sprint freestyle events,” said Warren swim coach Russ Beyer. “Natalie Valentine had a huge time drop in the 50 free, about 3 seconds.”

Katie Madigan finished first in 1-meter diving.

“Lady Dragon divers had another good night on the board,” said Warren diving coach Matt Madigan. “Katie Madigan took first with a season-high 268.7. Izzy Heacox battled hard to take third place by a point with a score of 179.5. Alexia (Bowers) rounded out the night with her personal-best of 134.3.”

The Warren boys fell, 129-41, to Cathedral Prep.

Hugh Harrison won the 100 butterfly over Prep’s Aidan Levis, 1:00.27 to 1:00.31. He also finished first in the 200 individual medley. Max Harrison won the 50 free in 25.28 seconds, and was second in the 100 free.

“For the boys, Graham Carr had two good races in the 50 and 100 free,” said Beyer. “And so did Jarod Peterson in 100 butterfly.”
