The Kinzua 14U girls recently finished their spring seasons in the NWPA League as well the STTL league.
In NWPA play, the girls finished with a perfect 5-0-0. The last game served to be a challenge against the Commodores. A late first-half assist by Josie Elms to Keira Cressley sealed the perfect season. The team allowed only one goal with strong goalkeeping performances by Amelia Smyth and Evelyn Wilson. Strong forward and midfield play led to 23 total goals.
In SSTL play, the team earned another perfect season with a record of 8-0-0. With the season title on the line against Bradford, Elms assisted Cressley on the game-winning goal as Kinzua outlasted Bradford 6-1. Cressley and Mya Tyndall each contributed with a three-goal performance.
Against Enchanted Mountain, the team preserved its perfect season with an early goal from Maya Alex assisted by Ada Gage. The girls made quick work of Enchanted Mountain 5-0.
Behind the strong defensive line of Rylee Rectenwald, Evie Carlson, Bri Dougherty, Tyndall, Ada Gage and Alice Sanford, only two goals were scored against the team with Smyth posting six clean sheets. A strong midfield of Elms, Paightyn Gertsch, Lillian Ishman, Alex and Mallory Warmath led to many scoring opportunities and supported the defense. Cressley, Hanna Lund, Piper Clark and Nora Gage took advantage of these opportunities as the team scored an impressive 42 goals in league play.
