ERIE — It wasn’t just a day at the beach for team of Dragons at Presque Isle State Park last week.
Seven members of the Warren Area High School girls soccer team participated in the Soccer in the Sand Tournament on Saturday, July 31, at Beach 11.
It wasn’t really a training event, according to Coach John Page. It was another fun day of soccer, just with a twist.
In pool play, the Warren Dragons Hooligans Football Club downed North East 6-1, played an exhibition game against the referees, and lost 10-2 to the Little Beaches of McDowell High School.
There were only three teams in the U18 girls, so Warren advanced to the finals for a rematch.
“The girls advanced to lose a close, but well-fought game against the same team from McDowell to take second place in the tournament,” Page said.
The Hooligans included Audrey Smith, Hailey Peterson, Kyleigh Wilson, Kyra Wotorson, Alyssa Fuchs, Eliza Brook and Sydney Rex. Assisting Page was Mark Lynds.
