ST. MARYS — Crossing districts doesn’t even faze the Dragons.

The Warren boys tennis team shut out host St. Marys, 7-0, on Saturday. Playing the District 9 opponent meant playing by D9 rules.

Warren (5-0) has the depth.

Logan Fincher was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Dylan Aiello at first singles, and Wes Kiehl picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Jon Chamberlain at second singles. At third singles, Luke Smelko earned a 6-2, 6-1 win over Nate Eckert, while Mark Lynds was a 6-1, 6-3 winner over Liam Brem at fourth singles.

Max Harrison and Ian Darling topped the duo of Aiello and Chamberlain, 8-5, at first doubles. At second doubles, it was Derek Hahn and Owen Strandburg in a hard-fought 8-6 win over Eckert and Carter Dush. Will Strassburg and Seth Conarro had a 8-1 win against Dominic Aiello and Sean Radkowski at third doubles.

“We are appreciative of St. Marys and the D9 setup for allowing us to get more boys in the starting lineup,” said Warren coach Travis Myler. “Mark, Owen, and Derek have paid dividends for their hard work at practice with their wins for the team. Extremely proud of Wes and all the boys for putting forth positive Dragon-style tennis and working to continually develop into stronger tennis players.

“St Marys won D9 two years ago, and proved to be excellent competition for our boys,” Myler added.
