The Caverners bring Beatles’ tribute to Warren Friday

It’s not Liverpool, but the Struthers Library Theater in Warren is a familiar place for the Caverners, a Beatles tribute band that has previously played in Warren.
The show takes place Friday, May 8, from 8-10 p.m.
Band member Sandy Vine shared that the band is excited to visit Struthers Library Theater, saying that it is a lovely sounding theater with amazing sound and lighting technicians.
The Caverners show has been performing since 1994, with every cast member of the show a full-time musical performer in one form or another. Each member performs in various other acts that include other popular music, working with networks of other musicians.
During an interview with Vine, who portrays Paul, explained a tribute band as such,
“It’s kind of like an actor who may be in a movie, but also does TV or theatrical plays with various other actors. Everyone is a full time performer, and The Caverners is one of the shows that we do where we all (pardon the pun) “Come Together.”
A fully costumed tribute show, the four performers portray each Beatle by embracing the mannerisms of the legendary band using various costuming to present the changing eras and respective songs. No backing tracks, computers or extra members are used to create the complex orchestrations of the Beatles later albums. In order to get the true sound of the band, the Caverners even carry the correct period style guitars and drums to achieve the true Beatles sound. A live show where spontaneity often presents itself in special moments from the audience, providing a way to bring in the Liverpudlian humor.
The four musicians from Canada knew each other from performing in the same local circuit and decided to create a Beatles show when Vine proposed the idea. They prepared ten songs and quickly saw how the songs easily and magically worked well together.
“Once we saw that these songs magically came together quickly we prepared more material and eventually invested in the proper guitars, drum gear, and costuming etc. to still be here some thirty odd years later.”
Each band member plays a variety of instruments with Sandy Vine (as Paul), on bass guitar, acoustic guitar, keyboards, and vocals. Michael Wainwright (as John), plays rhythm electric guitar, acoustic guitar, keyboards, harmonica, and vocals. Rick Labrie (as George), on lead guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar and keyboards, and vocals. T.J. Rogers (as Ringo), drums and percussion, and vocals.
All members have performed in the show for all 32 years, except Rogers, who joined in 2021. Each of them sing the lead vocals of the character with background vocals and instrumentation performed exactly as the Beatles recordings.
“We do use modern keyboards to create the orchestral parts and this helps us to perfect the sound performance for the audience,” Vine said.
The timeless music of the Beatles brings people together like no other.
“It is our honor to perform it for audiences young and old. There’s great joy in seeing 3 and 4 generations of families in the same audience all enjoying these songs together,” Vine said.
Tickets can be purchased online at strutherslibrarytheatre.org or by calling the Struthers Library Theater Office 814-723-7231. Tickets are available at the door as well.
