Hepinger, Richards finish strong for Sheffield boys
BROCKWAY — Sheffield’s Tyler Hepinger dropped 9 points in the fourth quarter while Tony Richards went 6 of 6 at the free throw line to finish off Brockway in a 45-38 victory for the Wolverines fifth win of the year.
“Tyler really started to get aggressive to the hoop in the fourth allowing us to build a solid lead,” said Wolverines head coach Jordan Copley. “Once we had a lead Tony did a great job of making free throws to help us keep that lead. Another team effort on both ends of the ball though.”
The Wolverines ended the first quarter with a one-point lead and were able to slowly pull away as the game went on. Much of that was attributed to the difference at the free throw line. Sheffield went 14 of 20 while Brockway was held to only six attempts, sinking four of them.
The Rovers were able to stay with Sheffield due to some big shots around the perimeter from Marcus Bennett, Noah Adams, and two from Marcus Copelli.
Richards totaled 13 points and Hepinger led Sheffield with 17. Conner Johnson, Caden Copley and Lucas McNeal went 5 of 8 at the line and combined for 11 total points.
The Wolverines will host Redbank Valley Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

WARREN BACK IN WIN COLUMN
A day after its second region loss to Harbor Creek, Warren bounced back with a 58-34 Region 5 win over visiting Conneaut on Wednesday at Warren Area High School.
Ben Berdine and JT Blum had 8 points each in a 20-11 second quarter that gave the Dragons a 16-point halftime lead.
“A better effort right out of the gate,” said Warren coach Jeff Berdine, whose Dragons are now 6-3 overall and 3-3 in region. “This was a team we could put pressure on out of our trap (defense).”
Conneaut is just getting out of the gate after its first game of the season just last week.
Berdine finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead Warren. Blum added 13 points and 10 rebounds.
“I think Ben realizes he’s had to step up his game since Payton (Barnes) went out (with a shoulder injury),” said coach Berdine. “I really thought those two together would have strong senior years.”
Kody Vega (16), Justice Greene (11) and Justin Rich (10) scored in double figures in Warren’s 43-22 junior varsity win, earlier Wednesday.
