Lady Eagles run to 2 wins at HarborCreek

HARBORCREEK – Youngsville’s girls cross country team went to HarborCreek on Tuesday and swept the host Huskies and also Warren, 27-28.

Brooke Messinger finished first overall at the tri-meet in 20:22, and Lydia Swartzbaugh, Leigh Fehlman, Leigh McCluskey and Piper Olsen finished in the top 10. It was Sawartzbaugh’s third personal-best time in four meets. McCluskey, Olsen and Mallory Eastman had their best times of the season for the Eagles.

The Lady Eagles’ win over Warren was by one point, with Warren also having five top 10 finishers – Ansley Cernjul (2nd), Anna Falvo (3rd), Gabrielle Hahn (5th), Deanna Hahn (8th), and Michaela Lind (10th).

Warren’s girls defeated Harbor Creek and the boys beat Youngsville, with Blake Ristau second overall in 17:19. Tanner Burns, Max Pierson, Mark Reiff and Max Pierson all finished in the top 10 in the boys race for Warren.

“So both of our teams won one and lost one,” said Warren coach Julia Dustin. “Today we saw some great times and personal records. Blake Ristau led the boys team with his best time ever on a cross country course. Ansley Cernjul also led the girls with her fastest time yet this year. Anna Falvo had a great run and is starting to drop her time at the right point in the season. Overall the boys and girls are really improving and are setting goals for the district race.”
