Respect heroes with mask Dear Editor, Sept. 11, 2001. Two hijacked planes crash into the World Trade Center. Firemen rush in, not out, to help rescue survivors. Which put them right at risk. Many died. Heroes. How could we help? What can we do? FDNY hats were worn everywhere. We now have a new nemesis. A virus. Instead of pulling together, we have split apart. One channel says one thing, the next channel says the opposite. I find it best to listen to each with a bit, OK a lot, of skepticism. Instead I turn to the heroes. Freedoms at stake Dear Editor, For nearly four years the federal government has been in turmoil because the Democrats lost the 2016 election. Donald Trump ran on the “Drain the Swamp” agenda with many promises to “Make America Great Again.” He has accomplished some of those promises but has been obstructed in others because the Dems don’t want to allow anything he proposes to come into fruition. Cause and effect Dear Editor, Former officer Derek Chauvin brutally killed George Floyd. He’s in jail and charged with murder. His action was despicable. Going beyond peaceful protests, rioters committed arson, looting and assaults in numerous cities. Those actions are despicable. The true sociopaths today are Chauvin and the rioters. They’re criminals even if not yet convicted. They’d be the most fitting cases today in an abnormal psychology. Extremists want to defund the police. No masking leadership Dear Editor, I hate wearing a mask. Hate it. But I rather like having a governor who does not want to see me bury friends and relatives. Rather than blaming the governor who is trying to keep us safe. How about putting the blame where it belongs? If Donald Trump had shown any kind of leadership back in January, a lot of lives might have been saved and the economy would be better as well. But Trump called the virus a nothing burger.
