No masking leadership

Dear Editor,

I hate wearing a mask. Hate it. But I rather like having a governor who does not want to see me bury friends and relatives.

Rather than blaming the governor who is trying to keep us safe. How about putting the blame where it belongs?

If Donald Trump had shown any kind of leadership back in January, a lot of lives might have been saved and the economy would be better as well.

But Trump called the virus a nothing burger. Then it was “just the flu.” Then it was a hoax to make him look bad. Then it was going to go away when it got warmer. Then he suggested we dose ourselves with bleach and sanitizers.

Now he says we “have to live with it.” More than 134,000 people could not live with it.

This is a “leader” who does not care if Russia put a bounty on American soldiers in Afghanistan. This is a “leader” who does not care if people are unemployed, losing their homes or going hungry. This is a “leader” who does not care if you, your family or friends die from a virus.

This is not a leader … this is a malignant narcissist who cares only about himself. We can do better.

Arielle Smith,

Warren

ROAR on the record

Dear Editor,

The record needs to be set straight as far as Pine Grove Township going from “dry to wet.”

ROAR — Revitalization of Akeley and Russell is not, and I repeat is not, endorsing Cable Hollow Golf Clubs plan to include a liquor license in their establishment.

ROAR has, however, welcomed the revitalization efforts of Cable Hollow Golf Clubs to expand its business as we have done for other businesses in the past. This is what we are about, revitalization. We want visitors to come and spend some time in our community.

ROAR receives funding through donations, grants, special events and 50-50 sales. Some patrons may not want to support ROAR, if we are endorsing an alcohol-serving establishment.

For ROAR to remain viable, we must abstain from any opinion on the “dry to wet” subject.

Registered voters of Pine Grove Township will decide in November which way the “Township” shall go.

I hope this adds some clarity to this subject.

Linda L. Farnsworth,

ROAR, Revitalization of Akeley and Russell,

president
