No standing still

Dear Editor, In response to the April 7 Times Observer article, “Statue proposal receives frosty reception,” the foolishness of revisionist history could use an explanation. The article noted “Washington’s history as a slave owner” as a reason not to erect a statue of him. Washington was a slave owner as were a huge number of persons worldwide. Washington became uneasy owning slaves, and his actions may have been the beginning of the end of slavery in the U.S. He was a leader in the emancipation of his personal slaves. Dear Editor, If you think the world is in a real mess then take a closer look at our own country. It is hard to believe how far out of whack things have gotten in such a short time. For instance, the Woman of the Year is a man; the Women’s College National Swimming Champion is a man. A female nominee for U.S. Supreme Court was ask to give her definition of a woman but she either couldn’t or wouldn’t give an answer. Makes me wonder why? On Jan. 20, 2021, the new chief executive started signing executive orders. With a stroke of a pen 40,000 un-born babies’ lives were ...
