Sheffield man facing rape, indecent assault charges
A Sheffield man is charged with sexually assaulting three different girls under the age of 10, the youngest aged 7.
Lorn Champlin, 63, of Sheffield, is charged with three counts of rape of a child — all on one docket, six counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with child over two dockets, two counts of aggravated indecent assault — less than 13 years of age at two dockets, two counts of indecent assault — less than 13 years of age at two dockets, three counts of corruption of minors, and one count of indecent exposure.
According to the affidavits of probable cause, one alleged victim was interviewed at the Southern Tier Child Advocacy Center in Olean, N.Y. Two more alleged victims were identified following that interviewed and were interviewed at the Warren County Children’s Advocacy Center.
In the first interview, on Feb. 14, a female alleged victim told interviewers that Champlin had “touched her in her private areas that she did not like.”
She described that he had touched her multiple times and in different ways and “had a friend come to his residence and watch him sexually assault her,” according to the affidavit.
A second female alleged victim told interviewers that Champlin had touched her inappropriately with her clothing on and that she had received “sleep gummies” from him.
The third female alleged victim reported that Champlin had assaulted her “three to ten times.”
Champlin was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Raymond Zydonik and taken to Warren County jail after failing to post $100,000 bail at each docket.
A preliminary hearing is set for 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 26.
