Columbus Township home destroyed after fires break out

Fire broke out at a Columbus Township home Wednesday evening, then rekindled Thursday morning, causing more damage.

When the initial call for the fire at 21 College St., went out at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday, Corry Regional Fire Department responded, according to City of Corry and Corry Regional Fire Department Chief Jerred Hodak.

“They had smoke showing and fire in the attic and into the house,” Hodak said.

No one was home when the fire started, he said, and pets escaped safely. A resident arriving home saw the smoke and called in the fire.

Firefighters went into the house and started putting out the fire, but the damage was extensive. “There were some areas that

tough to get to,” he said.
