Crescent Park to close at US 6 next week

Times Observer photo by Josh Cotton Crescent Park at the intersection with US 6 will be closed all of next week for repairs to a railroad crossing.

As one project that has created traffic headaches wraps up, another is set to commence next week.

Starting Monday and running through Friday, Crescent Park at the intersection with US 6 will be closed.

PennDOT says that the Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad will be fixing one of the railroad crossings north of the intersection toward the city limits.

Signage announcing the closure was up on Friday at the intersection. A detour will be posted that uses US 6, Pennsylvania Avenue and Main Avenue.

The delays for work near the Glade Bridge in recent days are not expected to add a complicating element to the Crescent Park closure.

That project “is on track to have this season’s work completed by the end of next week,” PennDOT District Press Officer Jill Harry said. ” What is left to be done in 2021 should not require as many traffic disruption(s) as motorists have seen earlier this week.”

Harry said crews will have to come back to that intersection in the spring “to complete signal work (once) the poles and mast arms are available.”
