Conservation District awards scholarships to area seniors
The Warren County Conservation District has awarded scholarships to graduating Warren County students.
District Director Dave Miller and Associate Director Richard Smith presented the Ralph G. Eckert Scholarships to Connor Carnahan, Bryceton Maille, and Natalie Valentine.
The Eckert Scholarship is awarded to deserving students pursuing conservation-related degrees. It was established as a memorial to Ralph Eckert, who served in the Soil Conservation Service from 1950 to 1966.
Carnahan is a 2022 graduate of Tidioute Community Charter School and will attend Penn State DuBois and major in wildlife technology.
Maille is a 2022 graduate of Youngsville High Schoole and plans to attend Mount Aloysius College, majoring in conservation law enforcement.
Valentine, a 2022 graduate of TCCS, will attend Penn State University and major in forestry biology.
The conservation district also awards the Warren County Council of Sportsmen’s Clubs’ scholarships.
Two of those who won the Eckert Scholarship — Carnahan and Maille — also received the council’s.
The third recipient is Halee Mineweaser.
Mineweaser is a 2022 graduate of Warren Area High School and will attend Slippery Rock University, majoring in chemistry.
