Senior center closure extended
Senior centers throughout Warren County will remain largely closed at least through the end of January.
The closure initially went into effect back in November.
“Due to the increase od COVID in both Warren and Forest counties, senior centers will continue to provide to-go meals only,” said Kimberly Wilson, director of center services with Experience Inc.
“No programming unless virtual will be conducted.”
The closure impacts the Allegheny Community Center in Warren as well as senior centers in Tidioute, Endeavor and Marienville. When the closures were announced, it was indicated the Sheffield Hospitality House would follow the same guidelines.
Seniors will continue to order meals as they did prior to the closure. The meals will be served in a takeout container.
“The next evaluation on initiating programming at the centers will be conducted at the end of January,” Wilson said.
“We work with a vulnerable population and we will always work to put the health and safety of older adults at the forefront of our decision making,” Executive Director Danell Sowers said in November.
The main office on Fourth Ave. will remain open by appointment only and is available at 723-3763 and questions about the closure can be directed to the local centers.
