AMERICAN LEGION TO HOST STUDENT ESSAY CONTEST Each year the American Legion Auxiliary sponsors an Americanism essay contest for student in third through 12th grades, including students with special needs. This year’s essay title is “What Does Patriotism Mean To You?” There is a cash award at the local level, by the Youngsville American Legion Auxiliary, for each of the six groups/classes. AREA FUNDRAISERS ON TAP THIS WEEK From 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, the the Lions Club of Warren will be holding its annual John Crone Memorial Turkey Dinner Fundraiser at the St. Joseph Recreation Center (600 Pennsylvania Ave West). The Youngsville Public Library will be open regular business hours on Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. A cake auction fundraising event at the Allegheny Community Center (42 Clark St., Warren) will be held Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Allegheny Community Center and be used towards further programming.
