Photo submitted to the Times Observer Children had the opportunity for a craft day during their winter break at the Youngsville Public Library on Tuesday. There was a story time led by Library Director Kristy Wallace as well as different crafting stations, building block station and a painting area. The wooden toys that are being painted were provided courtesy of The Toy Shoppe of Warren. Children are pictured participating in activities.

AREA EVENTS ON TAP THIS WEEK

There are several events and dates to know coming up for those in the Youngsville area. They include:

Book Club: Open to all, the Youngsville Public Library’s book club meets the second Tuesday of each month from 3 to 4 p.m. The book to be discussed on Jan. 10 is “The Perfect Family” by Pam Lewis. Those interested in joining can call the library during business hours at 814-563-7670 or drop on a book club day.

Holiday Hours: The Youngsville Public Library will be closed on Monday but will resume regular hours on Tuesday. Holiday hours are posted on the library’s website at YoungsvilleLibrary.org.

Borough News: Youngsville Borough office and DPW services will be closed on Monday. Garbage pick-up regularly scheduled for Monday will be on Tuesday, Jan. 3, and garbage pick-up regularly scheduled on Tuesday will be on Wednesday, Jan. 4.

Bingo At Garland Volunteer Fire Department: Monday is Bingo night at the Garland Fire Hall from 6 to 9 p.m. The fire hall is located at 31 Bailey Lane, Garland. Doors open at 4 p.m. and bingo starts at 6 p.m. The kitchen is open at 4 p.m. The cost is $35 for all-you-can-play and includes lucky number. Proceeds benefit the Garland Volunteer Fire Hall.

Bingo At The Youngsville American Legion: Weekly Bingo at the Youngsville American Legion is held Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. at the legion, 10 North Main St., Youngsville. Food is available with the kitchen open at 5 p.m. Bingo night is open to the public and non-smoking during bingo hours.

Free Music Classes: Free music classes will be held the first Wednesday of every month at the Music Conservatory, 220 Pennsylvania Ave. W., from 7:15 to 8 p.m. starting Jan. 4. Anyone is welcome to participate. Classes are free through a partnership by the Music Conservatory and the Allegheny Community Center. The drumming circle instructor is Rich Schuler.
