AREA FUNDRAISERS ON TAP THIS WEEK

From 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, the the Lions Club of Warren will be holding its annual John Crone Memorial Turkey Dinner Fundraiser at the St. Joseph Recreation Center (600 Pennsylvania Ave West). Tickets are $15 per dinner. Dinners are take-out only. Buy tickets in advance at Crone’s Drug Store, Kersey & Associates, or any Lions Club. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Storybook Breakfast: Saturday from 9:00 to 11 a.m., a storybook breakfast will be held to support the Imagination Library of Warren County at the Jefferson Defrees Family Center (207 Second Ave., Warren). There will be character visits, photo opportunities, family fun and basket giveaway. A hot breakfast will be served and take-out orders will be available. Sponsors are Jones Chevrolet Buick GMC and the Kiwanis Club of Warren.

LIBRARY EVENTS/CLASSES

iPhone/iPad class: Tuesday, March 14, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. the Youngsville Public Library (100 Broad St., Youngsville) will be the site for an iPhone/iPad basics class. Bring in a device and learn how to use various, basic features. The class is being presented by Hi-Ed of Warren but hosted by Youngsville Library. The cost to attend is $19. Registration for this course is through Hi-Ed by calling 814-723-3222, visiting the Hi-Ed website, or accessing the Youngsville Library iPhone /iPad registration page on the homepage of the library’s webpage at YoungsvilleLibrary.org. The library circulation desk staff can also help people register during regular business hours.

Free online courses: Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. there will be a “SkillUP PA” overview workshop at the Youngsville Public Library demonstrating how to access free online courses through the SkillUP PA site and PA CareerLink. The workshop will guide area residents through the process of how to register for free, self-paced, online classes and free training programs. There are a wide range of free online courses available on SkillUP PA. For example brush-up on Microsoft office skills, learn how to use QuickBooks, or even take courses that will help pursue a different job such as cybersecurity, human resources and project management. Free PA CareerLink class: Wednesday from 2 to 3 p.m. there will be a free class, “Mastering the PA CareerLink website,” hosted by Rebecca Whitney at the Youngsville Public Library. Learn how to navigate the website, register for future workshops (both virtual and in-person), learn how to document coursework to meet unemployment requirements, if needed, and much more. Free Job Search Q & A: A free walk-in question-and-answer workshop with a focus on guiding area residents in resume help, job search techniques, free courses options and more will be held Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. The workshop instructor, Rebecca Whitney, is from PA CareerLink and can field personalized questions about job opportunities, trainings, and more. YOUNGSVILLE YMCA CLASSES

Spin class with Jill: Group cycle classes are offered at the Youngsville YMCA (80 Ford St., Youngsville) on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. Call to reserve a bike at 814-802-1618. Cost is $3 for members and $6 for non-members. Those joining the Warren County YMCA have access to all three facilities in Youngsville, Warren, and Sheffield. All group cycle classes are led by a trained instructor and incorporate high-energy music for added motivation.

Pound Fitness with Sara: Pound Fitness classes are offered at the Youngsville YMCA (80 Ford Street, Youngsville) on Thursdays from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Rock out and work out. Drop-in fee is $5 per class. Call 814-802-1618 with questions. Pound is a unique exercise method inspired by playing the drums. Using Ripstix, lightly weighted drumsticks, pound was designed to transform drumming into a way of working out. Stix can be provided or bring your own.

Ida Mae’s Grand Opening: Tuesday through Sunday, Jan. 29, marks the Grand Opening Celebration at Ida Mae’s Restaurant (200 North Main St., Russell). There will be door prizes and other specials throughout the week. Follow Ida Mae’s on Facebook to learn more.

Concerts Around the Casavant: Saturday, Jan. 28, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Warren (300 Market St., Warren) the First Presbyterian Church is hosting a new concert series title “Concerts Around the Casavant.” This series was kick started with the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the founding of First Presbyterian. There will be performances by Northwest Passage Trumpet Trio, Westminster College PA Trumpet Studio, a performance of Schubert’s “Winterreise,” and organ recitals by the church’s director of music.

Free 3D Resin Printing Class: Wednesday from 5 to 6 p.m. there will be a Free Introduction to 3D Resin Printing class at Innovault Coworking (201 Library St., The class will be using the Innovault AnyCubic Photon Mono X 3D Resin Printer. Course will be taught by Joe McClellan. No experience or technology needed to attend.
