Russell man sentenced to decades for rape of child

A Russell man found guilty at trial of five charges related to the sexual assault of a victim between the ages of four and five years old will spend decades in prison. Anthony M. Cases resolved at preliminary hearings

One guilty plea was entered and charges were withdrawn against two defendants during preliminary hearings held Wednesday at the Warren County Courthouse. Ashley G. Richards, 34, Jamestown, NY, pleaded guilty to a count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Charges were withdrawn against two defendants: ¯ Katelynn S. Harvey, 26, Warren. Harvey had been charged with a count of simple assault. A count of harassment was re-categorized as a non-traffic offense. ¯ Craig A. Scalise, 73, Warren. Scalise had been charged with a count of bad checks.

Police seek info on ‘deliberately’ cut brake line in Warren

Warren-based Pennsylvania State Police are seeking information regarding an incident where a vehicle brake line was deliberately cut. Troopers said in a statement Sunday night that they responded to 10 Edgewood Dr. There the victim, a 24-year-old female, Columbus, “reported that the brake line on her Jeep Patriot was deliberately cut.” Police say the incident occurred between Aug. 17 at 10 a.m. and Aug. 18 at 11 a.m. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at (814) 728-3600.

Charges were withdrawn against Joel Banuelos, Jr., 33, Warren. Banuelos had been charged with strangulation and simple assault. A count of harassment was re-categorized as a non-traffic offense. William J. Brooks, 61, Bradford, Pa., was held for court. Brooks faces charges of DUI and disorderly conduct — obscene language/gesture.

Troopers seek info in attempted burglary

Warren-based Pennsylvania State Police are seeking information on an attempted burglary that occurred in Deerfield Township on July 19. Troopers say they received a report regarding the incident that allegedly occurred on July 19 at 9:22 p.m., according to a Wednesday night statement, at a Hilltop Drive residence. According to the report, a male approached the residence driving a blue SUV and entered but was confronted by a juvenile. “The man,” police say, “wearing a ski mask, red shorts and (a) blue Nike shirt the(n) fled from the residence.” Anyone with information is ...
