Warren man charged in sexual assault

A Warren man has been charged for allegedly sexually assaulting two girls.

Douglas A. Maruca, 19, of Warren, is charged with one count of aggravated indecent assault — complainant less than 13 years of age; and one count of aggravated indecent assault — complainant less than 16 years of age.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Maruca allegedly sexually assaulted two girls on separate occasions about a week apart in August.

Pennsylvania State Police said the younger alleged victim reported during a forensic interview that Maruca assaulted her while she slept and she woke up to the assault.

The older alleged victim told police Maruca assaulted her while she was awake and that, although she didn’t tell him to stop, she “was uncomfortable and scared… didn’t know what to do,” and it “made her sick.”

An adult relative of one of the alleged victims told police he had spoken to Maruca after he learned of the alleged assault. According to the affidavit, Maruca told him he didn’t know why he had touched the girl, but, “I’m sorry I did it.”

Maruca was arraigned before District Judge Laura Bauer and taken to Warren County jail after failing to post $25,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is schedule for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22.
