Five Warren County students have been selected to receive the 2022 Warren County History Award.
The awards were presented during a reception held June 27.
“Every year, the Warren County Historical Society recognizes a deserving senior from each of the county schools to receive an award for their excellence as a student of history,” Michelle Gray, WCHS managing director, said.
The society reaches out to each county school in the spring and the school then selects the recipient.
“Each recipient will receive a certificate of excellence (and) a $50 monetary award,” Gray said, as well as a year’s membership to the society.
Students recognized this year include Lilly Jache, Warren Area High School; Gavin Dashner, Tidioute Community Charter School, Cayla McMillen, Sheffield Area Middle High School; Jake Venman, Eisenhower High School and Maxwell Atwood, Youngsville High School.
Jache plans to attend Gordon College in Wenham, Ma. to major in history with a concentration in public history and museum studies with the goal of being a museum educator.
Dashner will be working for PennDOT and working to secure his CDL. He also intends to become a World War II reenactor.
McMillen will be attending Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pa. to major in veterinary nursing.
Venman plans to attend Edinboro University for aeronautics with the future goal of working for the commercial airlines.
“The Warren County Christian School is also included but did not have any graduating seniors this year,” Gray added.
