Olewine lifts Eagles past Eisenhower
Outscore Knights, 24-7, in fourth quarter to prevail, 42-36
RUSSELL — Brady Olewine scored 16 of his game-high 18 points in the second half as Youngsville erased a 23-6 halftime deficit to defeat Eisenhower, 42-36, in District 10 Region 2 boys basketball Tuesday.
The Knights (0-2, 0-2) held an 11-point lead entering the fourth quarter before the Eagles (1-1, 1-1) took over the game. In the final eight minutes, Olewine hit a pair of 3-pointers and Ethan Kesterholt scored 8 of his 10 points, including a 3-pointer.
Back-to-back 3s from Olewine were part of a 15-0 Youngsville run that gave the Eagles a 36-34 lead with 2:09 remaining. They would never relinquish that lead.
Eisenhower led 13-1 after the first quarter thanks in part to 6 of Owen Trumbull’s team-high 12 points.
The Knights’ lead grew to 17 at halftime as Curt Darling hit a pair of 3-pointers in the second quarter.
Eisenhower won the JV game, 40-21, behind 11 points from Wyatt Lookenhouse. Carson Chase led Youngsville with 8 points.

WARREN FALLS TO FAIRVIEW
FAIRVIEW — Much like what happened in the second quarter of Warren’s season opener, this time it was Fairview that pulled away and handily defeated the Dragons, 54-31.
Also like the season opener, Warren played a state qualifier in the defending Class 2A District 10 champion Tigers.
“(Fairview had a) 12-0 run to end first half,” said Warren coach Jeff Berdine. “Seven empty possessions in a row; three quick shots and four turnovers. We can’t do it versus a team like Fairview. We need some guys to start making their open shots. I also thought we had some guys that played poorly defensively tonight. As a team, we need to be better on that end of the floor.”
Warren (0-2) trailed just 16-13 after one quarter with Ben Berdine scoring 8 of his team-high 15 points. Parks Ordiway had the other two field goals for 5 points in the quarter. He finished with 11. Payton Barnes had the only other points for Warren with 5, and Fairview (2-0) outscored the Dragons 12-5 and 15-6 in the second and third quarters respectively.
Berdine added six rebounds, and Tommy Nyquist and Barnes combined for seven assists.
James Sitter had 18 points and Tyler Schultz 17 for Fairview, which defeated Sharon in its opener in a rematch from the D10 3A title game last winter.
Justin Rich scored all 9 of his points in a 15-12 fourth quarter, but Warren’s junior varsity fell 32-31 after falling behind early. Justice Greene scored 4 of his team-high 10 in the fourth.
