The Warren unified track & field team held a mock meet Saturday at War Memorial Field in preparation for their inaugural season.

“Every team member had an excellent performance today, beating their best time and distance posted at practice thus far,” Dragons head coach Cayla Onoratti said. “Each student competes in one track event, one field event, and many are on a relay team. Our team would like to thank varsity coaches Cody Bupp and Kevin Dustin for acting as referees today, along with multiple varsity athletes volunteering their time to help. Many of our teammates have never participated in a track meet, so we wanted to give them an experience of what to expect on Tuesday.”

Warren will travel to General McLane to take on the Lancers at 3 p.m. Tuesday and then will host Corry at 4:15 p.m. April 21 at War Memorial Field.

“As a coaching staff, we are so proud of everyone’s performance today,” Onoratti said. “They all demonstrated significant improvements from time trials a couple weeks ago. We are so excited to see their performance on Tuesday, and are confident we have a competitive team going forward. We hope to get a great crowd to support the team for our home meet.”

The list of track & field events athletes participate in are the 100 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, 4×100-meter relay, 4×400-meter relay, shot put, javelin and long jump. The Dragons have four regular-season meets, region championships, and league championships with the potential to qualify for states.

Starting at $3.50/week.
