Jakubczak belts HR, but Knights lose at Lakeview 6-2
Caleb Jakubczak hit a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning, but it wasn’t enough as Eisenhower dropped a 6-2 baseball decision at Lakeview on Friday.
The Knights were able to load the bases with one out after Jakubczak’s home run, but hit into an unassisted double play to end the game.
Michael Palmieri started on the hill for Eisenhower, threw five innings and gave up three earned runs. Wesley Wood came on in relief and threw a clean sixth inning.
The Knights saw their record drop to 0-7 on the season. They welcome Mercyhurst Prep to Werner Park on Monday in a regional game. First pitch is at 4 p.m.
SOFTBALL
KNIGHTS FALL TO SENECA
ERIE — Eisenhower went on the road and fell to Seneca 10-0 in five innings.
Two home runs and a triple staked the Bobcats to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and they let the pitching do the rest as they held the Knights hitless.
Abbie Darr was the starting pitcher for Eisenhower. She gave up nine hits and eight runs, walked four and struck out three.
The Knights are back in action on Tuesday when they welcome Iroquois to Werner Park. First pitch is set for 4:05 p.m.

IKE TAKES ON OIL CITY
RUSSELL — The Eisenhower track teams recently welcomed Oil City on Senior Night.
Despite the cold and rain, several boys turned in outstanding performances in an 85-65 loss.
First-place finishes were turned in by the 4×800-meter relay team consisting of Parker McBride, Joey Fanelli, Alex Lund and Isaiah Reagle; Chase Myers in the 100/110 and 300-meter hurdles; Joe Gigliotti in the 1,600 meters and the high jump; Ethan Beers in the triple jump; and Alex VanGelder in the discus.
First-place finishers for the girls, who lost 103-46, were Laney Belcher in the 400 meters and the 200 meters; Belcher, Lainey Font, Rosalie Rondeau and Riley Robinault in the 4×400-meter relay; and Sarah Blauser in the shot.
