Linda E. Hess

Linda E. Hess

Linda Elaine Smith Hess, of Youngsville, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, with her devoted and cherished family at her side.

She was the daughter of the late Arden and Pauline Smith Sr. and the eldest of five siblings: Arden (Nancy) Smith Jr., Ronnie (Tammie) Smith, Lori (Jimmy) Dyke, and Randall (Danielle) Smith.

Linda is survived by her beloved daughter, Stacy (Allen) Cressley; her cherished grandchildren, Jonathan (Megan) Pollow, Savannah (Shawn) Littlefield, and Cole (Kasaundra) Cressley; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Joanna, Patrick, Benjamin, and Noah, along with her furry granddog, Peter. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Laurie (Vern) Mee, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she dearly loved.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Neil Hess, from whose loss she never fully recovered; her parents, Arden and Pauline Smith Sr.; her son-in-law, John Pollow; and her beloved nephew, Chris Smith.

Linda dedicated 30 years of service to Crossett Inc. Following her retirement, she began a new chapter as an entrepreneur, opening a store called Second Chances, which at one time grew to three locations.

Her family shared a love of horses, and she proudly supported her daughter’s participation in horse shows for many years. During that time, she formed lasting friendships, with Bonnie Tanski and the late Peg Miller. She also enjoyed attending swim class and doll club. Linda had a passion for genealogy and took great joy in uncovering her family’s history, as well as learning about local history–especially in Wrightsville, Pennsylvania.

She loved sharing stories from her younger years, especially of fond memories with her cousins. She especially loved to tell about her time as a majorette and when owned a motorcycle as a teenager.

She cherished her lifelong friend, Rita, as well as her dear friends, Sally and Cindy.

May Linda be remembered for her independence, her determination, and the life she lived on her own terms. Her warm smile, and the memories and legacy she leaves behind, will live on in her beautiful family.

A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to Paws Along the River Humane Society, 212 Elm Street, Warren, PA 16365 or Hospice of Warren County, 1 Main Ave, Warren, PA 16365.
