Warren’s volleyball team made quick work of Erie High on Tuesday in Joseph A. Massa Gymnasium, sweeping the Royals 25-12, 25-11, 25-7.
Madelyn Nosel had 20 kills and four aces for Warren, which clinches a tie with Meadville for the Region 5 title with the District 10 3A playoffs looming for both.
“With this win, the team clinched the Region 5 championship,” said Warren coach Mike Dolan, whose Dragons (and Meadville) finish 11-1 in the region. “One more nonregion game on Thursday at Cochranton and a tournament Saturday at Maplewood.”
Maddy Jones contributed eight kills, nine digs and two aces on Senior Night at WAHS, senior teammate and setter Lindsay Madigan had 27 assists and two aces, and senior sisters Lily Walker and Sophie Walker combined for seven digs.
“Tonight, we honored our four seniors, Lindsay Madigan, Maddy Jones, Lily Walker and Sophie Walker, who have all been so dedicated to this team and program,” said Dolan. “They all contributed big-time with their ball-control, serving and attacking. They are also a huge part of the culture and each one makes the team better every day with their work ethic in practice. They will be missed next season for sure. Both Sophie and Lily had some nice back-row play and served well tonight. Maddy was awesome at the net again, with some terrific kills and Lindsay put up lots of great sets. (Junior) Madelyn Nosel also had a huge game, her attacking was unstoppable with 20 kills in 28 attack attempts for a .571 hitting percentage.”
