Meea Irwin had six goals — three in each half — in the Warren girls soccer team’s 8-0 Region 6 win over Franklin on Monday at War Memorial Field.

The program’s all-time leading scorer as a junior reached 100 career goals with the double hat trick.

“Meea had a first-half hat trick via a long through ball from Lani Wenzel, a short pass inside the edge of the box from Madison Jones, and scoring her third goal off her own steal,” said Warren coach Mark Ordiway, whose Dragons are 6-5 overall and 3-0 in the region. “The first half was kind of difficult for us. We dominated possession, but Franklin was able to bunker down nine or 10 defenders, making it hard to find a clear shot or find the appropriate pass. I think we played with much better spacing in the second half and were able to better capitalize on our opportunities.”

Meea Irwin added three more goals in the second half, all assisted by her sister, Leyna.

“They are a special combination for sure,” said Ordiway. “It’s not often you see a player reach 100 goals, and especially not their junior season. It’s a credit to Meea and also to all of the current and past players that helped make that happen.”

In addition to her three assists, Leyna Irwin added a goal, as did Lilly Stanley. Wenzel had two assists in the win, and Jones and Meea Irwin added one apiece.
