Water donations pour in for park

Shortly after the story about the lack of clean water at Mason’s Mobile Home Park appeared in Wednesday’s Times Observer, businesses started reaching out, seeing what they could do to help. A bottled water pickup station was very quickly established at Napoli Pizza in North Warren.
Lance Ferrand of Lumberjack’s Jerky Meats and More in Youngsville and his son, Kamse, were the first to respond with a donation of several cases of water. Next up was Black Out Tint and Detail of Warren. They not only donated water, but also formulated a plan to find more donations.
Julian Lombardo of Elite Auto and Detailing in North Warren soon called to say he had read the story and wanted to help. He purchased an entire pallet of water that he delivered Wednesday evening to Napoli’s. The 133 total gallons collected the night before were almost gone.
“It’s awful what they’re going through,” said Lombardo, speaking of the residents.
On Thursday, Donna Morse from Sunrise In-Home Care of Warren emailed saying they wanted to make a donation also. A truck was going to be needed to haul all of this water so Jon of Lifestyles Home Finishings agreed to deliver a large shipment of water from Walmart to the staging ground at Napoli’s.
When word got out that Pleasant Valley Mobile Home Community in Youngsville was also on a Boil Water Notice, they were included in the water giveaway. Superior Communities, based in Moscow, Pa., owns both Mason Mobile Home Park and Pleasant Valley, along with Wilderness Park in Clarendon and Riverview Estates in Starbrick.
The most touching donation of all came when residents of Wilderness Park came together and raised $165 for their friends and neighbors at Mason’s. Wilderness Park has not been without their own water issues in recent years.
A day after the Times Observer article was published, Superior Properties made the first of their required deliveries of bottled water to the nine Mason’s homes on the Do Not Drink order.
If you would like to donate water, it can be dropped off at Napoli Pizza in North Warren or call 814-796-4499.
