Warren’s girls tennis team toughed it out to defeat Bradford 4-1 on Senior Day on Monday at Betts Park.

“We have had a rough go this season in terms of injuries, so tonight’s lineup looked a bit different with multiple girls jumping up in the lineup and a couple of JV players getting an opportunity to play varsity,” said Warren coach Thomas Pellegrino, whose Dragons are 8-4 overall.

Playing at first singles, senior Ella Card defeated Emery Kemick 6-1, 6-3.

At second singles, Alannah Garza picked up her 10th win of the season in defeating Ava Peterson 6-0, 6-0.

Warren senior Maddy McDunn completed the singles sweep by defeating Jackie Sipke 6-0, 6-1 at the third singles slot.

In doubles, the pair of Grace Carlson and senior Anna Courson defeated Eli Coursio and Lilly Hawk 6-3, 6-1 at first doubles.

All three seniors that played, won. Senior Grace Carr was also recognized despite being out with injury.

“With the match already decided and rain in the forecast, the coaches agreed to have second doubles play out an eight-game pro set,” said Pellegrino.

The Warren pair of Brady Caudill and Lilly Seyler fell 4-8 to Bella Ramos and Rylie Baldwin.

“Both Lily and Brady played some great tennis and we were really impressed with how they stepped up to compete in varsity for us,” added Pellegrino.

“With rain in the forecast most of the week, we were happy to get this one in and have a day to celebrate our seniors,” he said.

Warren is scheduled to host Mercyhurst Prep today in a Region 2 match.

Starting at $3.50/week.
