Wolverines face Otto tonight
Otto-Eldred hosts Sheffield at 7 p.m. tonight, but it’s not the same Wolverines that the Terrors defeated twice a season ago by a combined 117-39.
This Sheffield team defeated Bucktail, 38-6, on Saturday on Wolverine Mountain at Sheffield High School for its first win in five years. Still, this is an Otto team that returns most of its starters on offense and defense and which dropped 50 points on Coudersport in Week 1, winning by 22 points.
“Otto is going to be physical,” said Sheffield coach Mike Barr. “We have to try to match that. I have been telling the boys all week that it’s going to be a dogfight. We need to focus on what we can do and what we know we can do and let the chips fall where they will. All the coaches are asking (of our players) is to play four quarters at 100 percent.”
Sheffield’s defense caused six turnovers on Saturday, but now faces an experienced team in Otto (with 16 returning letter winners) that had Hunter App run for 250 yards and four touchdowns and quarterback Shane Magee threw for three touchdowns.
