Warren plays in D10 semis today

ERIE — The pairs of Adam Strandburg and Abe Wolf and Jack Lynds and Lucas Thrift traveled to Westwood Racquet Club on Wednesday to represent Warren in the D10 2A doubles tournament.

“Lucas and Jack started off their day with an 8-1 victory over Oil City, but then got put up against the top seed from Cathedral Prep in the quarterfinals, falling 0-8,” said Warren coach Thomas Pellegrino.

“Abe and Adam grabbed a nice first-round win over the top team from Harbor Creek, but also got an unfortunate draw playing the second seed in the quarterfinals who were also from Cathedral Prep, losing 5-8,” said Pellegrino. “Our boys fought hard in this match-up, and it was a competitive pro set.”

The aforementioned Prep pairs — Gavin Ferretti and James Casella and Cameron Grieshaber and Colin Troutman — met in the D10 2A finals with Ferretti and Casella winning, 6-1, 6-4.

“All in all, it was a good day from our teams,” said Warren’s coach. “After seeding, everything is just luck of the draw, and this year we had some hard asks early in the tournament.”

Warren will travel back to Westwood Racquet Club today to take on the reigning D10 2A champion, Cathedral Prep, in the team semifinals.
