McDowell tops Warren baseball

McDowell led 7-0 after three innings en route to an 8-0 win over Warren baseball on Monday at Old Legion Field.

“They are a good team and they outplayed us,” said Warren coach Andrew Morrison, whose Dragons are 3-10 in Region 5. McDowell improves to 11-1 in the region. “We have to learn from it and be ready to go for Senior Night Wednesday against LeBoeuf.”

McDowell junior Ethan Bechtold threw a complete game shutout, allowing three hits and four walks, striking out five.

Warren’s Carter Cochran and Eric Dippold reached base three times each, and Konnor Hoffman reached twice in the loss.

Warren committed three errors and only three of the eight runs allowed were earned. In relief, Cochran allowed one earned run over 4-1/3 innings, striking out five. AJ Slattery added a scoreless inning in relief.

In addition to Wednesday against Fort LeBoeuf, Warren is also at home on Thursday against Seneca and on Friday against Titusville.
