RUSSELL — It was all Iroqouis on Tuesday as the Braves beat both of the Eisenhower teams at Werner Park.

In the softball game, the Knights were defeated 13-4.

Eisenhower got on the board early when Julia Gesing singled and stole second. She would later score on Morgan Zaffino’s single to left field.

The Braves would open up a 5-3 lead in the fourth inning and never look back as they had 18 hits in the game.

Eisenhower was led by senior Payton Frank, who went 2 for 3 in the game. Gesing, Samantha Childs and Zaffino drove in the Eisenhower runs.

The Knights are back in action Thursday when they travel to Saegertown to play the Panthers.

In a marathon Region 3 baseball game that lasted over three hours, the Knights fell to the Braves 17-13, despite outhitting the winners 15-14.

The Braves got on the board on a Knights error to lead 1-0 at the end of the first inning, but it was the second inning that saw the visitors plate five runs on one hit to open up a 6-1 lead.

Eisenhower, which has hit the ball well in every game this season, was not intimidated and scored six runs on six hits to take a one-run lead at the end of two innings. Senior Johnny Palmieri drove in two runs on a single to the outfield.

The lead was short-lived as the Braves scored four runs in the fourth inning and held that lead throughout the game.

For Eisenhower, Palmieri went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, while Griffin Williams, Caleb Jakubczak and Mason Degnan each collected multiple hits. The Knights were a perfect 6 for 6 in stolen bases led by Jakubczak who grabbed a pair.

Eisenhower is back in action today when its travels to Union City to play the Bears, weather-permitting.
