Junior high track

Beaty Warren Middle School, and junior high athletes from Eisenhower, Sheffield, Youngsville and 14 other schools competed on Wednesday at the 29th annual Union City Junior High Track & Field Invitational at Union City High School.

Beaty’s Leyton Salvatore, Grayson Collopy, Grant Newton and Cole Fitzgerald teamed to win the 3,200-meter relay in 9:56.96 — to Fort LeBoeuf’s 10:11.61.

In other results for Beaty, Ayden Corbett was fifth out of 29 long-jumpers; Kahle Kuzminski and Timothy Giger finished eighth and ninth, respectively, out of 30 in the 200-meter dash, and Giger was fifth out of 27 in the 400 meters; Salvatore was third and Fitzgerald sixth out of 27 in the 1,600 meters and Salvatore fifth out of 25 in the 800 meters; Collopy was third out of 15 in the 3,200 meters; Joel Rex was fifth out of 13 in the 300-meter low hurdles; and Warren’s 400-meter relay was second.

For the Lady Dragons, Hailey Cabisca won the long jump out of 27 in 13 feet. Other highlights for Beaty’s girls included Ava Wymer finishing second and Cabisca third out of 26 in the 100-meter high hurdles; Starrlin Slack was third in the 300-meter hurdles; Wymer finished third and Anabelle Harvey fifth out of 20 in the high jump, and Harvey ended fourth of 15 in the triple jump; Lexi Gulnac finished fifth in both discus and shot put; and Adelaide Keeports seventh in shot put. Gulnac was also eighth in the 100 meters.

For Eisenhower, Riley McCaslin was eighth in the boys long jump and Fiona Cook ninth in girls high jump.

For Sheffield, Quinn Winslow won the girls shot put in 30-2 and was fourth of 32 in discus. Kelci Kiser was sixth and Winslow ninth in high jump; and Laelah Mueller was seventh in 300-meter hurdles.

For Sheffield’s boys, Alex VanGelder was second out of 27 in discus and eighth in shot put; Landen Faul was fourth out of 30 in the boys 100-meter dash; Reilly Morgan was seventh out of 25 in the 800 meters and eighth of 27 in the 1,600 meters; and James Chapman eighth in the 110-meter hurdles.

For Youngsville’s boys, Caleb Shaffer was seventh in the 110-meter hurdles.
