WATERFORD — Youngsville sophomore Ethan Beers had a breakthrough day for the Eagles during Saturday’s Fort LeBoeuf Track & Field Invitational in Waterford.

Facing cold and windy conditions, Beers was already having a big day with a pair of third-place finishes before leaping to victory in the boys triple jump event.

Beers’ winning jump cleared 42-feet, 10.5-inches — more than a foot better than second-place Jordan Lawrence of Meadville.

In addition to his win in the triple jump, Beers was third in the high jump at 5-feet, 9-inches as well as third in the long jump with 20-feet, 2-inches.

The Eagles took a handful of boys and girls athletes who all braved the cold weather and windy conditions to perform alongside some of the best track and field athletes in District 10.

Michael Bojaczko and Jonathan Bojaczko each placed in a pair of running events. Michael was 15th in the 800 meters with a run of 2:29 and 22nd in the 1,600 with a run of 5:26. Jonathan was 26th in the 800 with a run of 2:49 and 34th in the 1,600 with a run of 6:12.

Freshman Chase Myers was 10th in the 300 hurdles finishing in 48.69, Ollie Boozer was 22nd in the triple jump with a leap of 36-feet, 3-inches and Dominic Sproveri was 33rd in the long jump with a leap of 16-feet, 5-inches.

In addition to the boys athletes, the Youngsville girls also had several participate in Waterford.

Cassidy Britton was 10th in the 3,200 (13:48) and 13th in the 1,600 (6:26). Sarah Blauser was 12th in the shot put (27-feet, 2.5-inches) and 18th in the discus (60-feet, 9-inches) and Kinzlea Chase was 14th in the 300 hurdles finishing in 58.37.

Youngsville returns to action on Thursday when it travels to Titusville.
